Children's Cup Team Event in December at Pembroke Lakes

The Children's Cup, presented by Al Hendrickson Toyota, will be held on Dec. 9-12, 2010, at the Pembroke Lakes Racquet Club in Pembroke Pines, Fla. The annual team event features children in the 12-14 age division who experience the opportunity to play in a Davis Cup and Fed Cup format.

Children's CupTeams can range from a minimum of two players to a maximum of four players. In the round robin format each team is guaranteed at least three matches (two singles and one doubles). Coaching is allowed on-court during matches under ITF/USTA regulations regarding team events, and USTA and ITF regulations apply.

Part of the proceeds are directed toward organizations such as the Broward Health Foundation and the USTA Florida Foundation.

"The event's objective is to stimulate the opportunities of experiencing competition in singles and doubles in a similar structure to the Davis Cup and Fed Cup," says organizer Gustavo Granitto. "Coaching is permitted throughout matches and the event includes a round robin format. The event takes place between the prestigious tournaments of Eddie Herr and the Junior Orange Bowl, in which many coaches embrace the event as preparation for the Junior Orange Bowl."

The cost is $100 per entrant and the entry deadline is Nov. 29, 2010. For more information please visit www.childrens-cup.org or e-mail info@childrens-cup.org.
