July 21, 2010 03:54 PM
sajous-webOlivier Sajous of Plantation, Fla., will get his shot at qualifying to the US Open beginning Thursday when the US Open National Playoffs-Men's Championship gets underway in Atlanta, played concurrently during the ATP Atlanta Tennis Championships.

Sajous, who qualified by winning the USTA Florida sectional event, thinks the players should have an extra incentive.

"By the way the winner should get a date with Ana Ivanovic," Sajous said.

The US Open National Playoffs-Men's Championship runs Thursday through Sunday, with the title match on Sunday shown on the Tennis Channel. The 16-player draw contains men's winners from 16 different USTA Sections across the country, and the winner will advance into the US Open Men's Qualifying Draw, held the weekend prior to the 2010 US Open in Flushing Meadows, NY.

Haitian by birth, Sajous has played Davis Cup for Haiti since winning the US Open Playoffs-Florida event, and has competed at various USTA Pro Circuit events in California and New York.

"I have been practicing with my coach Mike Daley, I also played three Futures [tournaments]," said the 23 year old. "I've recently also played Davis Cup for Haiti as the No. 1 and Haiti qualified into Group II for the first time in four years. I gained a lot of confidence playing the Davis Cup and I'm looking forward to competing."

The men's final of the US Open National Playoffs from Atlanta will be shown live on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. EST on the Tennis Channel.
