Well 2 down, 1 to go! Mixed doubles champions are set, women's champion was crowned today and congratulations to Sandra.
Men's final is set for tomorrow at 9:30am. Ryler played a fantastic match to beat Jeff Dadamo 4 & 4 in a lefty serving battle. I really enjoyed seeing him play like that again, the last time I saw him compete with such intensity and hard fought points was the French Open Qualifying in 2010. He is looking stronger and stronger with every match but maybe I am a little biased as he is my husband.
It took him 4 match points today to finish off the match and it sure did not help my nerves as in my head, I am playing every point for him but I am just glad he pulled out the great win.
The other semifinal was a very exciting match with the Florida Gulf Coast sophomore Bao challenging Miami alumni Hechtman to battle to the end. Bao was down 5-2 in the second and maintained his cool and showed resilience to get the match balanced out at 5 all, but Hechtman with some fine touch slice drop-shots was able to outplay the 6-foot-5 youngster from Bradenton.
To say the least, it is going to be an exciting and entertaining match to watch tomorrow morning and hope that people will come out and watch this great display of tennis at the McMullen Tennis Complex in Clearwater, FL!
