Let the games begin! "Go Golden O!"was yelled right before taking on Puerto Rico.
Matches were delayed due to overnight rains, but now, sunny skies, dry courts, and nervous players take the courts.
Puerto Rico gave us a great match! Paul and Katie lost 7-6, 6-4. Our other teams lost too, but we had many close games.
We have Louisiana next....Go Golden O!
Nicole Wigglesworth and Frank Owings brought win number two to the Golden O team beating Southern-Louisiana in a third set tie breaker 12-10!
Wigglesworth said, "Our opponents were tough because there was so much poaching at the net and because of the wind. We battled. We wanted the W and got it!"
Captain Paul Zirakian and partner Katie Harper delivered the first win for team Golden O defeating Southern- Louisiana 7-6, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8).
"We fought hard even though our third opponent on the court--the wind-- changed our normal shots. They were tough but we stayed consistent with our shots."
The Golden O team is 1-1 and looks forward to their next two matches versus Midwest and Mid-Atlantic on Saturday.
The 2.5 National team from Ocala, Florida arrived in Arizona with smiles. And with a short drive to the Hilton Conquistador, the team hit the courts to get grooved and in the mood! Team members are from Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club.
Rise and shine! An 8 o'clock match is scheduled today and the 2.5 team is getting warmed up and stretched out for a fun day of tennis in Arizona. Sydney and Nicole stretch out.
