October 6, 2014 05:58 PM
usta-pro-circuitThe South Seas Island Resort Women's Pro Classic, a USTA Pro Circuit event, will hold a wild card tournament on Oct. 23-26, 2014, in Captiva, Fla.

The 64-player entry field will be open to anyone of any level, and the winner of the wild card tournament singles will secure a direct entry into the Women's Pro Classic singles main draw. The finalist and third-place finishers will receive an entry into the Women's Pro Classic singles qualifying draw.

The 2014 Women's Pro Classic will be held Nov. 2-9 at the award-winning South Seas Island Resort, and will showcase the game's emerging and future tennis stars on the WTA.

This year's Women's Pro Classic will also be the finale of the 2015 USTA Australian Open Wild Card Challenge. The Australian Open Wildcard Challenge is designed to award the best performing player during the last three $50,000 USTA Pro Circuit Events in 2014, with a spot in the singles main draw of the 2015 Australian Open to the winner.

"We are excited to be the final stop of the Australian Open Wildcard Challenge being put on by the USTA," said Women's Pro Classic Tournament Director Nick Blackwood. "This will make our event even more exciting than last year's and is a great opportunity for the local community to see front row the best of the best up-and-coming American players who will play in future US Opens."

With approximately 90 tournaments hosted annually throughout the country and prize money ranging from $10,000 to $100,000, the USTA Pro Circuit is the pathway to the US Open and tour-level competition for aspiring tennis players and a frequent battleground for established professionals. Maria Sharapova, John Isner, Caroline Wozniacki, Sam Querrey and Andy Murray are among today's top stars who began their careers on the USTA Pro Circuit.
