UF Club Claims 3rd 'Tennis on Campus' Title at FGCU Dirty Bird Classic
The championship UF-"B" team
The Silver Bracket champions UM-"B"

The University of Florida club tennis team continued its winning ways on Jan. 18-19, 2014, capturing the Gold Bracket title at the FGCU Dirty Bird Classic, hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University in Ft. Myers, Fla.

In the Gold Bracket final the UF-"B" team defeated the USF-"A" squad, the first appearance in the final for USF in five Florida Tennis on Campus events in 2013-14.

The University of Miami dominated the Silver Bracket, with the UM-"B" squad defeating UM-"C" in the final.

Other teams participating were Florida Atlantic University, University of South Florida, and host FGCU.

UF has now won three of the four completed tournaments this year on the Florida Tennis on Campus Circuit, with the UCF Knightro Cup in November (UF vs. UCF in the final) rained out before completion. Both teams received finalist points in the 2013-14 USTA Florida 'Tennis on Campus' Standings.

The 2013-14 USTA Florida 'Tennis on Campus' series is a seven-tournament circuit held on Florida university and college campuses that provide college non-NCAA "club" tennis teams with a chance to compete and qualify for the USTA Tennis on Campus National Championships.

The next event in the USTA Florida 'Tennis on Campus' series will be the USF Bull Run, hosted by the University of South Florida on Feb. 1, 2014 on the Tampa campus. It is the final regular-season event before the Tennis on Campus Florida Sectional Championships in February in Orlando.
