Innisbrook in Palm Harbor to Host ROGY 1-Day Tennis Tournament for Juniors

October 24, 2013 03:19 PM

ROGY-LOGO-3B_ARCHEDInnisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Fla., will host the one-day ROGY Fall Championships tennis tournament for children age 16 and younger on Nov. 9, 2013 from 9 a.m.-noon.

"ROGY, which stands for the Red, Orange, Green, and Yellow tennis balls used in the 10 and Under Tennis format of play, is a brand new series of events for youth tennis players to hone their skills in a fun, no-pressure format," said USTA Florida Tennis Program Coordinator Carla Williams. "These three-hour events feature fun match play for kids age 8 to 16, without the pressure of rankings."

With the ROGY format, kids use right-sized racquets, lower-bouncing balls and smaller court sizes, and experience fun round-robin match play with no pressure of winning or losing, or results applied to rankings.

ROGY is ideal for youth players of all ages who want to play against opponents with a similar skill level. By removing the rankings and focusing on gaining experience rather than winning, the events provide a more fun way for youth players to participate. It is also ideal for parents who don't want the high stress and long days associated with competitive tournaments, or the obligation of playing a regular league.

The entry deadline for the event is Nov. 8, and the entry fee is $23.

To enter online go to http://tennislink.usta.com/tournaments/TournamentHome/Tournament.aspx?T=148077.
