militaryFifty military service members will enjoy the Saturday doubles this weekend at the U.S. Davis Cup tie in Jacksonville, Fla., courtesy of the USTA Military Outreach Program.

The U.S. Davis Cup’s donation of 50 tickets for veterans, wounded, and ill and injured service members and their families will spotlight the Bryan brothers, Bob and Mike, taking on Brazil in first-round play on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013.

Tickets for service members and their families were distributed through the Greater Jacksonville Area USO. Wounded service members are from the Naval Medical Center Jacksonville.

Rear Admiral James Scorby, Commander, Navy Region SE will perform the coin toss prior to the first match. Announcements and videos recognizing the service members and their families will accompany the day’s events.

"The USTA is honored to recognize and support military service members, veterans, and their families with programs designed to help communities reach out to our heroes through tennis. We invite all military and veteran families to join our community programs wherever they call home," said Robin Jones, USTA National Military Programs and Facilities consultant. "The USTA has also made great strides in working with the individual services and the Department of Veteran Affairs to develop programs that can be used by rehab therapists, making tennis a part of their therapeutic sports programs to aid in the healing of wounded, ill, and injured service members."
