Four USTA Florida Senior League teams booked their flights to Indian Wells, Calif., this past Sunday after clinching state titles at the USTA Florida 3.5/4.5 Senior League Section Championships, held May 4-5, 2012, at the Florida Tennis Center in Daytona Beach.

The Men's 3.5 team representing Marion County, playing out of the Ft. King Tennis Center in Ocala, advanced to nationals for the second straight year in the Men's 3.5 division.

"We had a little bit of experience but had to stay focused," said Marion County player Paul Franck, who with partner Brian McGee secured the clinching doubles win. "[Nationals] is going to be fun." Franck and McGee were trailing 2-5 in the second set, but won five straight games to prevail 6-1, 7-5.

Team captain Earl Schwartz was pleased with the outcome, but said he was "happy to just have the chance to be at [the Florida] sectionals again."
