Orlando Tennis Showcase of College, Jr. Stars in Oct. at USTA 2013 Collegiate Invitational

disney-goofy-tennisOrlando and Disney Resorts will showcase the future of American tennis, both top college and junior players, when the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex features the 2013 USTA Collegiate Clay Court Invitational, hosted by Florida State Men's Tennis and the United States Tennis Association on Oct. 24-27, 2013.
The dual-gender tournament will feature top-ranked teams on both the men's and the women's side, along with a number of the nation's top-ranked USTA juniors, to be announced, invited to compete.
Men's teams competing will be Florida State, Florida, Southern California, Tennessee, Kentucky, Central Florida, Georgia Tech, Pepperdine, Illinois, Notre Dame, and Tulsa. Competing women's teams will be Florida State, Florida, Auburn, Texas Tech, North Carolina, Duke, New Mexico, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Tulsa, Vanderbilt, Virginia, and Central Florida.
"This prestigious event in its second year will be broadcast on ESPN3 with 10 hours of live coverage," said Florida State Men's Head Tennis Coach Dwayne Hultquist. "We hope to see all area tennis fans in October to watch some of the future stars of tomorrow on the ATP and WTA tours."

2 Florida Pairings Advance to 2013 National Family Tennis Championships

Three of the top family tennis teams in the south qualified to play for a national title in the 2013 National Family Tennis Championships, to be held Aug. 23-26, 2013 in New York City.
Nearly a dozen teams from the Southern Region took the courts at the Copeland-Cox Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala., this past weekend, with each team previously capturing local NFTC titles to advance to the regional event.
Capturing titles at the Southern Region and advancing to the national championships were Derrick Racine and 16-year-old son Austin Racine (Pensacola, Fla. -- Diamondhead Tennis World) in the Father/Son division, Jonathan and Michele Drucker (Coral Gables, Fla. -- Weston Tennis Center) in the Husband/Wife division, and Kay Williams and 12-year-old daughter Martha Williams (Mobile, Ala. -- Orange Beach Tennis Center) in the Mother/Daughter division.
Teams receive New York City travel and hotel accommodations, as well as tickets to see the best in the game play at the USTA/Billie Jean King National Tennis Center during the 2013 US Open.
Winners from each of three regional tournaments, plus several wildcard teams, will compete for the national championship.
