Delray_Beach_venetian_logoGerman former world No. 2 and long-time Florida resident Tommy Haas is the top seed, joined by Tampa resident John Isner and former champ Kei Nishikori this week at the Delray Beach Open by The Venetian Las Vegas in Delray Beach, Fla.

Other players joining Haas, Isner and Nishikori among the internationally-flavored seeds are South African Kevin Anderson, rising Canadian Vasek Pospisil, Spaniard Feliciano Lopez, Croatian Marin Cilic, and former world No. 1 Aussie Lleyton Hewitt.

Haas in his opening round will contest a qualifier, while Isner could be tested against tenacious fellow American Michael Russell. Last week at the ATP event in Memphis, Russell upended Hewitt en route to the semifinals where he lost to Nishikori.

Americans Ryan Harrison and Jack Sock, and crowd favorite Marcos Baghdatis all received wildcards into the main draw.

Missing from this year's draw is Latvian Ernests Gulbis, who last year won his second Delray Beach title after winning eight matches as a qualifier, in the unlikely main draw final defeating No. 105-ranked Edouard Roger-Vasselin 7-6(3), 6-3.

Haas and Russell at 35 years of age continued to represent veterans finding success well into their late years of competing on the ATP World Tour.

The world No. 1 Bryan brothers are also going for their third Delray Beach doubles titles after winning titles in 2009 and 2010.

Also on Monday, Feb. 17 the tournament will feature the USTA Member Appreciation Reception at the Delray Beach Open presented by The Venetian Las Vegas.
