ATP Delray Pre-qualifying 'Survivor Series' This Month

Delray-Beach-2011-logoThe Delray Beach International Tennis Championships' (ITC) second and final "Survivor Series" pre-qualifying tournament, a USTA Florida-sanctioned clay court event, is coming up Jan. 26-28, 2013, at the Delray Swim & Tennis Club.

"Survivor Series" winners receive a wildcard into the 32-player Delray Beach ITC Qualifying Tournament in February. They then must finish among the top four players to receive an automatic berth into the main draw for the ATP World Tour event -- the 2013 Delray Beach ITC -- which will be played Feb. 25-March 3, 2013.

"Survivor Series II" is open to anyone, regardless of ability level. Sekou Bangoura, Jr. won the hard court Survivor Series I tournament in November, earning the first of the 2013 wildcards given out by the ITC.

The ITC has already announced three Top 25 players in its 2013 ATP World Tour event, including top American John Isner (No. 14) and former champions Kei Nishikori (19) and Tommy Haas (21). In addition, Mardy Fish, the 2009 champion and Vero Beach native, is also in the field, while the 2012 Olympic gold medalists and world No. 1-ranked doubles team, the Bryan Brothers, highlight the doubles draw.

The 10-day ITC also includes an ATP Champions Tour event in which tennis Hall of Famer John McEnroe will headline a field of six players. Tickets for the 10-day ITC are available at www.YellowTennisBall.com, Ticketmaster, the box office, or (561) 330-6000.

Entries for the Survivor Series event close Jan. 23, for more info go to www.YellowTennisBall.com.
