mediawall-JTT2013-webAltamonte Springs will host the Central Florida Regional Team Tennis Challenge, presented by Wilson, on Sept. 14-15, 2013, at Sanlando Park. Parents can sign-up teams of kids age 8-18, with only two boys and two girls minimum required for a team. Novice divisions and the 8- and 10-under advanced divisions allow gender-neutral teams to enter.

"USTA Florida is very excited to have Wilson Racquet Sports as a presenting sponsor of our Team Tennis Challenges," said USTA Florida Associate Executive Director Andy McFarland. "Having a strong partner like Wilson will only add credibility and value to our events for all of our participants."

Team Tennis Challenges are hosted by USTA Florida and are "BYOT" (bring your own team) events, with no previous team tennis league participation required. Both USTA members and non-members can participate, with USTA members receiving a $10 discount on registration.

To participate in the Team Tennis Challenge, teams must have a minimum of two boys and two girls and no more than eight players per team. Age divisions include 10-under, 12-under, 14-under, 16-under, and 18-under, with three skill divisions: novice, intermediate and advanced. Short-set scoring will be utilized. Note: The 10-under division is advanced skill level only and players must be ages 8-10 to participate.

Teams may enter the Central Florida Regional Team Tennis Challenge from anywhere in Florida; however, Central Florida regional teams will be given participation priority if the field reaches a maximum number of teams.

"We have seen consistent demand across Florida for more inclusive, competitive team formats of play," said USTA Florida Associate Executive Director Andy McFarland. "The new USTA Florida Team Tennis Challenges offer fewer restrictions, allowing more teams to participate. They also give players who are not yet USTA members the opportunity to experience our events and programs, while offering a clear value proposition for our junior USTA members."

Event registration closes on Aug. 30, 2013, at midnight. A late deadline will extend to Sept. 3 at midnight which includes a late fee of $10 per player.
