Ocala was dominant in the 7.0 division final, defeating second-place Brevard County 3-0.

The Ocala team, playing out of the Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club, was captained by Bill Nassal and included Allen Musikantow, James Duke, Pam Duke, John Kevin Donohue, Cynthia Nassal, Miles Christian Anderson, Andrew Louis Donohue, Peggy Ray, William Ray, Jennifer Toomy, Damian Guthrie, Rebecca Guthrie, Scott Lovell, Dawn Lovell, Kathleen Miller, Thomas Miller, Graeme Thom, and Steve Gray.

The Ocala 2.5 team from the straight-level division (2.5 players only) advanced directly to the national event in their division, which did not have a sectional playoff. Playing out of the Fort King Tennis Center, the team is comprised of captain Dwayne Sean Molock, Paul Zirakian, Edna Soomans, Sylvester Ajufo, Yasmine Okonkwo, Janet Birdsall, Deborah Borge-Shaffer, Anthony Ewere Okoh, Merrit Paulette Sinclair-Okoh, Nneka Nwakoby, and Richard Velez Perrone.

“A weekend of blue skies and warm sunshine greeted 30 teams that battled for a chance to attend the Adult Mixed National Championship,” said Jodi Manning, mixed league coordinator for USTA Florida. “Congratulations to the winning teams and best of luck at nationals.”

The 2010 USTA Adult League 7.0 Mixed National Championship and the 2.5 Mixed National Championship will be held on Nov. 12-14, 2010, at the Hilton El Conquistador Tucson in Tucson, Ariz. The 2010 USTA Adult League 6.0 Mixed National Championship will be held on Nov. 19-21, 2010, at the same location.

USTA League groups players by six National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) levels, ranging from 2.5 (beginner) to 5.0 (advanced). Mixed doubles teams in the 7.0 and 8.0 divisions are comprised of two players whose combined ratings are no more than a 1.0 differential, and add up to their division limit or less (example: a 7.0 mixed doubles team could be a 3.5 woman and a 3.5 man, or a 4.0 and 3.0).

Next up during the 2010 USTA Florida league championships season is the USTA Florida Adult Mixed 8.0/9.0/10.0 Championships, on Oct. 22-24, 2010 at the Florida Tennis Center in Daytona Beach.
