ADULT.LEAGUE_WEB_2010Twenty-four teams representing Brevard County, Broward, Jacksonville, Lee/Charlotte, Naples, North Palm Beach, Ocala, Orlando, Pinellas, Pensacola, Sarasota, South Miami/Dade and Volusia/Flagler will battle on the claycourts of the Florida Tennis Center in Daytona Beach this weekend in an effort to advance to nationals during the 2010 USTA Florida Adult League 3.0/4.0/5.0 Section Tennis Championship, Aug. 20-22, 2010.

USTA Florida is one of 17 USTA Sections across the U.S., and each section qualifies one team in each National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) division (2.5 up to 5.0) for the USTA Adult League National Championships. It is the second consecutive weekend of USTA Florida League Championship play after last weekend's USTA Florida Adult League 2.5/3.5/4.5 Sectional Championship in Daytona Beach, where Broward County, Jacksonville, Ocala, Pensacola, and Sarasota advanced men's and women's teams to represent Florida at the USTA Adult League Nationals in October.

"This Adult League Section Championship represents the best adult league tennis players in our great state of Florida," said USTA Florida Adult & Senior League Coordinator Dona Garcia. "Congratulations to these teams and their accomplishments to this point. I am very excited to have these teams as part of this premier league event and hope they continue to compete at their highest level. I am confident they will demonstrate fair play and sportsmanship during this event."

This weekend the Jacksonville 5.0 men are looking to advance to the national championships for a fourth consecutive year. Jacksonville is also the defending USTA Florida Section champion in the women's 4.0 division.

The Pensacola 3.0 men will defend their section championship title from 2009, as will the Broward County men's 4.0 squad.

Jacksonville and Sarasota lead the qualifying cities/counties this weekend with four teams each in the six divisions, with Ocala, Naples and South Miami-Dade each qualifying three teams.
