Two QuickStart Tennis events will take place on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 in Orlando and Jacksonville when the Lake Cane Tennis Center at Shadow Bay Park in Orlando hosts a USTA Florida QuickStart/Jr. Team Tennis Jamboree, and Hemming Plaza in downtown Jacksonville hosts QuickStart Tennis as part of Jax Kids Day.

The Orlando QuickStart/Jr. Team Tennis Jamboree will be held from 9 a.m.-noon, with a $5 per player fee that includes a tennis jamboree t-shirt, a pizza party, tennis awards and prizes after play for 8-and-under and 10-and-under divisions.

"I have been doing Jamborees in Florida for eight years and they are still a joy for me and the kids and their parents who attend," said USTA Florida Tennis Program Coordinator for Central Florida, Shelly Licorish. "I have had as many as 98 kids at events in 2006, to 56 last year. This one-day event is perfect for children 10-and-under."

Divisions will use the short-scoring QuickStart format, and participants must have played and registered for a local USTA QuickStart format of play program and/or participated in QuickStart tournament(s). The deadline to enter is Oct. 29, 2010. For additional event info, e-mail Shelly Licorish at licorish@florida.usta.com.

QuickStart Tennis at the Jax Kids Day event will also be on Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children can play QuickStart Tennis while parents can sign-up for QuickStart clinics or leagues in their area, or learn more about the new format featuring child-size racquets, courts, nets and low-bouncing balls.

Jax Kids Day will also include Mayor Peyton's Book Club Children's Celebration, the Wolfson Children's Hospital Red Wagon Parade, Baby Jam featuring Jack Hartmann, developmental health screenings, costume characters, hay rides, face painting, a climbing wall, inflatable activities, a DJ and music, a Family Health & Safety Fair, and much more.
