mediawall-champions-seriesThe HSBC Tennis Cup, a stop on the Champions Series tour featuring Pete Sampras, John McEnroe, Jim Courier and Michael Chang, will come to the Bank Atlantic Center in Ft. Lauderdale on Sept. 22, 2011. The four former Grand Slam champions will face off in one-set semifinals leading to the final which will be contested in an eight-game pro set.

Also available are VIP Sponsor Clinics with the players, and a cocktail party with the players.

The Champions Series tour is the brainchild of Courier and his business partner Jon Venison. The two founded InsideOut Sports and Entertainment, and oversee the Champions Series events which also include players Bjorn Borg and Mats Wilander. The players will compete in a 12-city tournament competition over five weekends in September-October, with an impressive 52 Grand Slam titles among the group.

"We're reaching more cities than we've ever been able to play in before," Courier said of the new fan-friendly format. "Of the 12 cities, nine of them do not have any high-level tennis events. It'll be something special for the fans, all these big names coming to compete in their town."

While he currently resides in New York City, Courier still holds Florida, where he grew up in Dade City, close to his heart. In St. Petersburg he still supports his inner-city youth program, Raymond James Courier's Kids. The St. Pete Times Forum annually hosts the "Tampa Tennis Classic benefiting Courier's Kids" fundraiser, which has seen the likes of Andy Roddick, James Blake, Vera Zvonareva, Victoria Azarenka and Rennae Stubbs supporting the cause.

Courier is also the U.S. Davis Cup team captain, and will lead his American charges against Rafael Nadal and Spain in Austin, Tex., the weekend following the Wimbledon final.

This September in Ft. Lauderdale, Courier says he and his fellow former champions look forward to seeing Florida tennis fans and giving back. USTA Florida will also have a booth on site, and celebrate with a Membership Appreciation Day for USTA members.

"Andre [Agassi] in particular wants to get out there and thanks the fans for all they've done for him," Courier says.
