Eligibility

2013 USTA Florida Section League Regulation: Section League Championships/2.03A Team Eligibility

At all championships, the minimum number of required team members who were on the final roster of their local league team at the conclusion of local league play must be available and eligible to combine and compete. This requirement cannot be waived. The minimum number of required team members in the Adult Division is eight (8) for all levels except for the 2.5 and 5.0 levels, where the minimum number is five (5). For all other divisions, the minimum number of required team members is six (6).

Matches Required:

2.03A(3) In the Adult and Mixed Divisions, a player is eligible to progress to championship level competition below National Championships if that player has played on the same team in at least two matches at the same NTRP level in the same League Type during its local league season. A maximum of one default received by the player during local league competition shall count for advancing. Retired matches shall count toward advancing for all players involved in both USTA League Divisions.

Team Registration

On-Line Registration:

Team registration is now closed.

Additional players can be added only.

Fee: $30.00 per player for each level.  $33 starting on Thursday August 15th.

Entry fee provides t-shirts for all participating players and awards for winner/finalist team participants.

 

Captains may register additional players at team registration on the Thursday before the event.

 

Entry fees will not be refunded to teams that withdraw from any region or section championship after the tournament schedule is first published.

Date: Thursday, August 15, 2013 (3.5/4.5)
Time:  6:00 – 6:30 PM or no later than 90 min prior to first match.

 

For all other matches, the team lineup must be submitted no later than 30-minutes prior to each match.

 

Captain’s Meeting

 

This is a mandatory meeting for ALL captains. (THIS INCLUDES THE 3.5 CAPTAINS!)  If the captain cannot attend, a designee must represent the team.

Match play may begin at noon.
3.5 Teams report to FTC site Tournament Desk on Thursday at their scheduled time.
3.5 Captains - there is NO additional captains meeting for you! Please plan on attending the Thursday evening meeting.

     T-shirts will be given to you at the Thursday evening Captains meeting (Holiday Inn/LPGA)
 

Match Play

Scoring:

All matches played at the USTA Florida Sectional championships shall be the best of two tiebreak sets with a set tiebreak (using the Coman tiebreak procedure) at 6-all.  In the event of split sets, a match tiebreak (using the Coman tiebreak procedure) shall be played in lieu of a third set. No coaching is allowed at any time.

Championship Flight Setup

Flighted Round Robin.
Teams will participate in a non-elimination round-robin format.
The winner of each flight/division will be determined by team matches won.
3 or 4 flights - The winner of each flight will then go into a semi-final followed by final.
2 flights - The winner of each flight will go into final.

Rest:

If a player plays multiple matches in a day at a section championship, that player is entitled to a minimum rest period between matches: 
Adult 18 & Over divisions - 30 minutes;
Adult 40 & Over, Adult 55 & Over, Adult 65 & Over divisions – one hour.

Coaching:

No coaching allowed.

Cell Phones:

No cell phones or electronic devices allowed on court.

Additional Information

Hospitality:

USTA Florida will have a hospitality station providing refreshments for all players during the three days of Sectional Championships.

Awards:

Awards are provided by the USTA.
Winners and Finalist must report to the tournament desk for award distribution and team picture following their final match.

Onsite during play at FTC only.
