In an effort to ensure the highest standards in court construction and renovation, and to promote the new QuickStart Tennis format of play for 10-and-under age children, USTA Florida is partnering with four tennis court contractors in Florida.
Fast-Dry Courts; McLean Tennis, Inc.; Nidy Sports Construction Company; and Welch Tennis Courts, Inc., in addition to traditional court construction across the state, will employ their knowledge of the proper construction of 36- and 60-foot QuickStart Tennis courts, along with the proper specifications for blended QuickStart lines on traditional courts for QuickStart play.
"USTA Florida is excited to partner with these four outstanding tennis court contractors to promote QuickStart Tennis," said USTA Florida Executive Director Doug Booth. "It is crucial for this initiative to have new 36-foot courts built, along with adding blended lines on existing courts for 60-foot play."
QuickStart Tennis is the new USTA-approved format for teaching children age 10-and-under, featuring smaller court sizes, racquet sizes, foam and low-compression balls, a simple scoring system, and net heights adjusted to ease kids into the sport.
"Fast-Dry Courts, Inc., is extremely excited to partner with USTA Florida Section to promote the QuickStart program throughout the state," said Stephen C. Dettor, president and chief operating officer, Fast-Dry Courts, Inc. "Fast-Dry Courts is a strong believer in QuickStart and the positive impact this new program is having on the development and retention of our next generation of tennis players. We look forward to offering our award-winning construction approach and methodologies to assist USTA Florida with expanding the QuickStart program to public and private facilities throughout Florida. Fast-Dry Courts will both build and re-stripe existing courts for the QuickStart format under this partnership."
USTA Florida will maintain constant communication with the four companies regarding projects and the availability of USTA national and USTA Florida section grants, and will promote construction and renovation opportunities through USTA Florida staff and volunteers.
"Welch Tennis Courts is delighted to be an active participant and partner with USTA Florida in growing the great game of tennis through QuickStart," said Dave Moseley, director of marketing, Welch Tennis Courts, Inc. "USTA Florida has done an amazing job of growing the game and QuickStart provides another important cornerstone of growth by making the game playable and enjoyable to youngsters at a critical time in their sports development. All of us on the Welch Tennis team proudly look forward to this endeavor."
Construction companies will also promote the QuickStart Tennis format when discussing projects, and encourage the use of blended lines and smaller QuickStart 36-foot court construction.
"We are very excited about the partnership between Nidy Sports Construction and USTA Florida," said Matt Wilson, general manager, Nidy Sports Construction. "The Quickstart program will provide a great opportunity for younger tennis players to enjoy the game of tennis as it relates to their skill level. We look forward to installing and promoting this program."
