USTA Florida will utilize a unique stage to promote tennis in Jacksonville during the build up to the Jacksonville Jaguars versus Atlanta Falcons NFL preseason game at EverBank Field on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010.

QuickStart Tennis will be one of the featured activities in the Jaguars Teal Town pre-game entertainment area next to Pepsi Plaza at the South entrance to the stadium. Prior to the start of the 7:30 p.m. game, USTA Florida will invite all children and adults to test their skills on four of its new QuickStart Tennis courts, register for falls leagues and receive information about the Sept. 11 Twilight Tennis @ The Landing event.

The QuickStart Tennis format is a new way for children 10 years of age and younger to learn and play the game. The shorter court sizes, smaller racquet sizes, foam and low-compression balls, modified scoring system, and even the net height have been adjusted to ease kids into the sport. At the Teal Town promotion, adults can also test their skills using the same courts and equipment. The QuickStart format stresses the importance of play and team competition, and since most kids love team sports, this new format is now part of the USTA Jr. Team Tennis League. Over 100 children are now playing QuickStart league tennis in Jacksonville, making it one of the largest programs in the state for young tennis players. Following the appearance at the Jaguars preseason game, sports fans can mark their calendars for Sept. 11 with the Twilight Tennis @ The Landing. It is a free, first-of-its-kind in downtown Jacksonville. The event will feature the US Open women's final on the JumboTron screen, a Fall Tennis Fashion Show, live band, food and drink specials for all USTA members that show current USTA membership cards, an interactive tennis skills area with QuickStart Tennis mini-courts and fast-serve speed cage, and more. The event will take place 6-10 p.m. The event is hosted by The Jacksonville Landing and the Florida Section of USTA, which has 5,000 active members on the First Coast.
